PNN reader John Kopcheff, an investor in resource stocks, believes the Slugcatcher left out a fif...

This describes any reader of the report that believes in the value of implementing the recommendations!

The elephant in the room that everyone in Australia is ignoring or should I say the very small mouse in the corner in reality is that Australia produces 1% of the global CO2 output!

Australia can play the role of economic martyr to prove its "green" credentials which might provide a "feel good " feeling as we shiver in our caves, as the rest of the developing world continues to spew out CO2 saying "we admire the Australian dedication and sacrifice to the cause of CO2 reduction, but we can't afford to do it ourselves!"

Australia "leading CO2 abatement role" will have about as much impact on the rest of the world as the beauty contestants' mantra of "wishing for world peace".

The more cynical developing world CO2 producers will say "good on Australia. Each tonne less of CO2 they produce is one more tonne of CO2 we can produce without adding unfavourably to global warming!"

They might even query "why Australia as a developed country would want to regress to being a developing country- very strange people, these Australians!"

I cannot believe that the Australian people are not aware of the story of King Canute and his command to the tides!
