The Norway-based company is establishing an entity in Aberdeen to support clients operating in the UK North Sea and other regions, including the Mediterranean Sea and Africa.

Recruitment has started and iSurvey plans to have 30 staff in place by the end of the year.

The move represents a £500,000 ($A940,000) investment.

iSurvey has appointed Andrew McMurtie managing director of its offshore division.

McMurtie, a veteran of Andrews Survey, Nautronix, DOF Subsea and NCS Survey will be responsible for growing the company's international business through the offshore division.

"iSurvey Group already has a well-established global reputation for survey and positioning, which provides the new offshore division with an excellent platform for growth," he said.

"Setting up this base in Aberdeen demonstrates our commitment to expanding operations in the region and from here we will continue to offer world class support for our clients' project requirements."
