"CB&I has served the liquefied natural gas industry for more than 50 years, and this award builds on that experience," the company's engineering, construction and maintenance group president Patrick Mullen said.
"We look forward to working with Pieridae on the Goldboro LNG project, which upon completion will serve as North America's closest mainland LNG export terminal to Europe and India."
Located in the eastern peninsula-based province of Nova Scotia, the up to $C10 billion ($A9.84 billion) two-train LNG project aims to start first exports in 2019.
CB&I said Pieridae was in advanced discussions with gas producers, pipeline operators and LNG customers.
German utility E.ON struck a 20-year sales agreement with Pieridae last year to secure 5Mtpa of the project's LNG.
The value of the FEED contract was not revealed.
