The winning companies of the Varanus Gas Plant Expansion Project (VGEP) are PCT Engineers Pty Ltd, HPS Technology Pty Ltd and Civmec Construction and Engineering Pty Ltd.

The VGEP Train Three project comprises the design, construction, installation and commissioning of a 120TJ/Day gas processing train on Varanus Island facility in the North West of Western Australia, and complements two existing gas processing trains operated by the Harriet Joint Venture which is comprised of Apache, Kufpec Australia Pty Ltd and Tap Harriet Pty Ltd.

The award concludes a four month tender contested by five other bidders representing most major global engineering and construction companies.

PCT Engineers' Mark Sawyer said the project will be executed by the consortium as one integrated team, bringing together extensive design, construction and installation expertise, and is valued at approximately $20M and scheduled for completion before February 2005.

"We have a long experience in engineering and construction on the offshore Carnarvon Basin islands and PCT has held an engineering support services contract on Barrow Island for quite some years now."

"Our people are very familiar with working within the parameters of these fragile areas, which is crucial to sound environmental management," he said.
