This new alliance will allow Santos access to a wider global market and comes at a time when the company will soon be receiving higher volumes of crude oil from its Mutineer-Exeter project. The project is due to come on-stream some time next year.

The new partnership has put a smile on the face of Santos Managing Director John Ellice-Flint. According to Ellice-Flint, “Santos is delighted to be working with such a well respected and highly experienced company as BP.

“We hope this is the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship, [which] will be a great advantage for Santos when the Mutineer-Exeter oil field comes on-line in mid 2005, increasing Santos’ total oil and liquids production by over 40%.”

“This groundbreaking strategic alliance allows Santos to access markets in an innovative way while delivering significant productivity improvements and cost efficiencies,” added Ellice-Flint.
