As an engineer Sutherland has had more than 15 years experience in the offshore oil and gas sector and is head of one of the main operating divisions of Clough, responsible for its engineering service, operations and maintenance activities.
Sutherland had been serving as an alternate director for Richard Reid, who also formerly served on the Clough board and was appointed to the board of Mermaid Marine after the share placement by Clough Engineering in September 2000. Clough currently holds an 18% stake in Mermaid Marine.
