In a statement BPCL said, “We have had to close the refinery for an indefinite period due to flooding caused by non-stop monsoon rains. The road transportation around Numaligarh has been badly hit and therefore there is no lifting of oil products from the refinery at the moment.”
“However there is no shortage of crude at the Numaligarh refinery and normal operations at the refinery will resume as soon as the flood water recedes,” added the firm.
Numaligarh Ltd is a unit of BPCL; India’s fourth-largest refiner.
