THE Australian Workers Union today called on the federal government to “threaten a UK-style windfall tax” to force industry to ensure domestic gas supply amid the east coast energy crisis.
Just this month, the UK brought in a windfall tax which will cost industry about US$3.3 billion over the next three years.
