THIS week the Albanese Labor government secured a deal with the Greens to pass its safeguard mechanism reforms through the Senate. Claims by the minor party that it had “stopped” new oil and gas projects are unfounded, according to industry.
As part of the deal, the Greens were successful in lobbying for a "climate trigger" requiring the climate change minister to personally assess and approve gas projects.
