Wind turbines 'ugly': National Trust

The National Trust says wind turbines slated for Victoria are 'ugly' and has called for a moratorium on approvals for wind-powered generation.

Chairman of the National Trust's Victorian branch, Mr Randell Bell, accused the Labor Government of Premier Steve Bracks of lacking a comprehensive plan on sustainable energy.

More than $1 billion worth of wind farms are planned for South Australia and Victoria. In Western Australia, Australia's biggest wind farm located in Albany was recently opened. The $44 million wind farm will comprise 12 x 65 metre high turbines and will supply up to 75 per cent of the town's electricity.
