SA backs solar thermal giant

SOUTH Australia Premier Jay Weatherill announced yesterday afternoon that his government was backing the world’s largest solar thermal plant at Port Augusta to be built by US giant SolarReserve.

The 150 megawatt plant will act to partially plug the gap left by the former coal-fired power generation capacity at Port Augusta, which Alinta Energy shut down as being uneconomic.   Weatherill said...
