THE Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety has clarified to Energy News the four onshore and nearshore permits put out for tender this week for explorers only allow for conventional exploration.

Operators "will not be eligible to utilise hydraulic fracture stimulation" DMIRS deputy director general Dr Phil Gorey said in a statement to Energy News today.
